Description

Let me show you Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygete, Celaeno, and Alcyone, with their parents, Atlas and Pleione. This young and hot stars compose the most famous open star cluster : The Pleiades, M45 or Subaru in Japanese.

In fact this nine stars named from the Greek mythology are the most brilliant of the cluster which count about 3000 stars. Their age is about 100 millions years.

Princesses of the winter sky, they can easily be seen unaided eyes in the constellation Taurus. It is large like four full moon. A simple binocular will show you a marvelous view.

Guiding : Orion Starshoot Autoguider on a William Optic Zenithstar 66SD refractor.

Software : auto-guiding and acquisition with MaximDL.

in times of old, the make of a man was sometimes determined by how many of the seven he could see with his naked eye, long before the invention of the telescope and optics, and light pollution. if one could see more than about five, they would have been considered a hunter or warrior.
